Egyptians during 3100 BC were the first persons recorded in the history to follow a three-step skincare routine, cleanse, treat and moisturize. They used rock salt to cleanse, and used a milk clay and oil mixed soap once a week followed by milk and honey as moisturizers.
Coming to our very own ancient Indus valley civilization in India during Circa 2500-1550 BC we have uncovered evidences of men and women using various types of herbal skin and hair care practices to keep their skin and hair healthy.
Meanwhile, in the Asian civilization, during 221-206 BC when Qin dynasty was flourishing in China, there were evidences of usage of herbs in daily skin and hair care routine.
Around 1800 AD a complete range of herbal cures were recorded by ancient scientists of southern part of India which were written in the oldest languages of this world “Tamil” that are still available in “olai chuvadi” (palm leaves).
